The Naiad from Thales is a Diving Navigation System, providing divers with a constantly updated and fully automatic display of direction, and distance back to the dive boat.
The Naiad is best characterized by its simplicity. It is small enough to be worn as a wrist watch, and like a watch, once set, operates automatically.
The Naiad is composed of a transmitter TX sending acoustic signals to a wrist-worn receiver RX or attached to Jacket of the diver.
The transmitter TX is immerged from the boat hanging on a line or attached to the anchor line at depth (for the model Wreck)
The receivers detect and process the acoustic signals to accurately compute distance and direction to the transmitter. These informations are displayed on the LCD of the receiver to be easily and intuitively interpreted by the diver.
The Receiver displays a constant visual direction to the transmitter and provides a large digital readout of the return distance to the boat (up to 3300 feet / 1000 meters).
Each Naiad can operate on a separate frequency channel allowing several boats in the same area to utilise this system with risk of interference. Each channel can be used by an unlimited number of divers
